Manuel Teran, Terrorist Cop Shooter, AKA Alleged Transgender “Tortugita”
Manuel Teran came from Venezuela to get a taxpayer-funded education at a college in Florida and engage in terrorist actions. After slightly (middle-aged) infiltrating the groups that sponsored him, I came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with his head. Maybe congenital. Maybe drugs. Maybe obsession. Maybe sheer laziness. Maybe a total lack of education. He wrote and sketched like a six-year-old.
But he shot a Georgia State Trooper from inside a tent with a gun he bought in Florida, after repeatedly refusing to emerge from the tent and surrender peacefully, and come out of his illegal “occupation” of the new Atlanta Police/Firemen/EMT training site. And he was killed. Because he shot first. After his killing, child-like “journals” he was producing, featuring child-like drawings of him shooting police, along with incoherent justifications for doing so, written in child-like prose, were exposed.
Not so his parents. I listened to “Tortiguita’s” parents at the Quaker Meeting House in Decatur for a long time, and they both struck me as sophisticated (understandably bereaved), yet radical and extremely well-trained communist activists from Venezuela. The mother talked about her tourist visa as an excuse as to why her lawyer advised her to not get arrested by attending protests. The father was more slick, a more professional radical organizer, and didn’t mention his status, so I don’t know if he is in America on a tourist visa or Green Card or possibly as a citizen.
This is an ugly thing to say: their son was clearly mentally ill or addicted, in trouble, not as competent or smart as they were, and they sacrificed him to a cause.
There’s an interesting novel based on this very theme, by the most incisive novelist of our generation: T.C. Boyle. It’s called A Friend of the Earth, and if you want to understand how parents can sacrifice their children to the environmental movement, read it. Boyle is one of the very, very few objective observers of our civilization and its inhabitants. He doesn’t judge: he describes, like John Updike, and is more powerful for it.
I pity them for their terrible loss, but they are terrorists and advocate killing cops and should not be here.
Teran’s mother was more forthcoming; his father appeared to try to dial some of her emotion and legal revelations back. But what she told was a story of extremism that should not be allowed to fly under a “tourist visa” in the United States. She should be deported. I don’t know the father’s legal status, but if he is on a tourist visa too, he should be deported.
Teran’s mother described visiting 70 cities to prepare for an “action” or “event” on January 18th marking the anniversary of her son being shot by police AFTER he shot police. She, and possibly her husband, travelled the entire United States fomenting radical and violent activism. Why are they here? Who paid for this? Seventy cities?
The fundraising is coming, at least partially, through the Quaker Church’s activist arm, The American Friends Service Committee. They’re up to some disturbing and likely illegal activities, such as doxing contractors. The more attention drawn to them, the more they strip their website. Be sure to let them know that they are breaking peace ethics and laws.
You can find the list of the 70 cities and events run by “Tortiguita’s” parents at this site: Stop Cop City Solidarity.
Being a luddite, I printed out all the events on actual paper, so if they remove them, as the American Friends Service Committee has done with their doxing contractors’ list, I have hard copy, including most of the specific addresses. Every police intelligence unit in every one of these cities should have a heads-up on what these people keep talking about planning to do on January 18. I’ll be there. If many of us are ready, and publicize their intent, maybe they won’t do anything. If you need more information, contact me at this website.
We don’t need more shot cops. Or Tortiguitas. Right?
